Got a dead heap, going to junk it. What is the best option? Should I go with one of the "We buy junk car" guys, or tow it to a yard like Pull-A-Part or a regular junkyard? Or just craigslist it as a "project car"?

I've always figured selling the car to a scrap yard would yield more profit. Friend of mine had her vehicle die on her and the trade in was only 400-450 bucks. You could at least get that from the junkyard

Donate it for a tax write-off to a charity!!! They will haul it away for you too. Had to part ways with a too expensive re-build 1988 944 NA and got more in write-off than private-party bs haggling.

My father is a CPA. If you donate and the value you claim is over $500 you will be audited and you will have to document the value that the charity says they received. Too much of a hassle. Plus you only get a percentage of the donated value, not the full amount.
So far peddle.com has offered to pay $425 cash and pick it up. Still going to check with Pull-a-part later this week, will take whichever is higher between the two.

Just to finish this up and possibly help someone else, I contacted Pull-a-Part and was offered $300. I took the Peddle.com offer. The local buyer was LKQ Automotive on the northern side of town. They had a towing company call and schedule a time and verify that the car was tow-able and that I had the title, etc. Tow guy arrived with check for $425 and towed it off. Piece of cake. I definitely recommend Peddle.com if anyone needs to junk something.
